Practices for Down Syndrome

A Self Guided Short Course with Christine Godwin and Jyoti Manuel giving an understanding of three forms of Down Syndrome and how yoga postures, breathwork and yoga nidra can help.

Like everyone, people who have Down Syndrome have their own personalities, things they like and dislike and things that make them who they are. They’ll have a differing range of abilities with some being more independent and others needing more support.

This Down Syndrome short course features a webinar of almost five hours in which Christin Godwin and Jyoti Manuel look at the different forms of Down Syndrome, how it may present and how that may change as the child grows up and why yoga is such an effective practice.

In addition to the webinar you’ll get pre-recorded videos of yoga postures, breathwork and yoga nidra as well as films of practise sessions with different children.

Practices for Autistic Girls

A short, self guided course with neurodiversity expert Kanan Tekchandani to support autistic girls, their parents and teachers.

“Through this course I want to help you to realise there is nothing wrong with you, to help you to understand that the challenges you may be facing are quite normal for autistic females.”

Many autistic females are not diagnosed until later in life, for Kanan it was in her late 40’s at the time her son was diagnosed. Autistic females can be very good at masking and hiding the challenges they face.
In this course you’ll get to understand the role your home and work environment play in how you feel and learn the importance of having a support network. You’ll learn what it means to be an autistic female, some of the common challenges and struggles faced, what you’re feeling and why - the basis of which is knowing yourself better. With this knowledge you’ll experience life with less anxiety and become more confident.

Content incudes:

  • Mindful Kindness affirmations to start your day and loving kindness meditations

  • Movement practices including tapping, shaking and legs on a chair

  • A variety of breathing practices including coherent breathing

  • Relaxing body scans from the basic to one guiding you to recognise and work with difficult emotions

  • information on the importance of self care for parents, the value of self awareness, masking and autism in girls and questions to prompt you while journaling.
