What is Somatic Yoga?

Somatic Yoga integrates traditional yoga with somatic movement techniques, focusing on slow, mindful movements with a focus on embodied inner exploration. This practice re-educates the nervous system, improves neuromuscular control, and fosters a deeper mind-body connection, complementing and enriching your existing yoga experience.

Benefits of Somatic Yoga include:

Improved body awareness and tune into your unique needs

Increased flexibility and mobility with gentle, mindful movement

Reduced pain and tension by addressing the root causes in the body

Feel calmer and more present through integrated breath and mindfulness

Deep stress relief through body-based movement and nervous system regulation

Kathryn Jackman is one of our Advanced Practitioners and Trainers, working with adults and children with special needs since 2010.

She is a British Wheel of Yoga and Integral Yoga trained teacher bringing her compassionate gentle nature to all her clients. She has also trained in Hanna Somatic Movement, a form of neuromuscular re-education that helps to ease chronic stress in the body.

Kathryn’s classes are rooted in compassion; aimed to develop a loving relationship to where we are right now and a chance to explore one’s full potential.
